Neritina pulligera – Beluga White Helmet Snail
The Beluga White Helmet Snail (Neritina pulligera) is a rare and highly distinctive nerite snail known for its smooth, rounded shell and unusual pale white to creamy coloration. Its helmet-like shape and clean, minimal appearance make it stand out from more commonly available zebra, tiger, and patterned nerite varieties.
In addition to its unique appearance, the Beluga White Helmet Snail is an excellent natural algae grazer. It spends much of its time moving across aquarium glass, rocks, driftwood, and décor while feeding on algae, diatoms, and biofilm.

Care Requirements
Scientific Name: Neritina pulligera
Common Name: Beluga White Helmet Snail
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Temperament: Peaceful
Adult Size: Approximately 2–3 cm
Temperature: 22–28°C
pH: 7.0–8.5
Water Hardness: Moderate to hard water preferred
Diet: Algae, diatoms, biofilm, and supplemental algae-based foods
Beluga White Helmet Snails are best kept in established aquariums where natural algae and biofilm are readily available. Adequate calcium and mineral content are important for maintaining a healthy shell, while very soft or acidic water should be avoided as it can contribute to shell erosion over time.
Important Note
Individual shell colour may vary naturally from bright ivory-white to cream or pale beige. As with other nerite snails, reproduction requires conditions not normally present in a standard freshwater aquarium, so they are not considered a pest snail.
Rare, useful, and visually striking, the Beluga White Helmet Snail is an excellent choice for aquarists looking for an uncommon cleanup-crew species with a truly unique appearance.
