Green Neon Tetra (Paracheirodon simulans)
The Green Neon Tetra is a delicate, eye-catching fish with an iridescent blue-green stripe that runs from its head to its tail. Smaller and more subtly coloured than the classic Neon Tetra, it looks especially striking in a group against dark substrate and dense plants.
Native to South American blackwater streams, Green Neon Tetras do best in a mature aquarium with soft, acidic water, subdued lighting, and stable conditions. Keep at least 8–10 together so they feel secure and show their natural schooling behaviour. Choose small, peaceful tankmates that enjoy similar water conditions.
Offer appropriately sized flakes or micro pellets, supplemented with small frozen or live foods such as daphnia and baby brine shrimp.
