Echinodorus ‘Red Rubin’
Echinodorus ‘Red Rubin’ is a striking Amazon Sword variety prized for its long, elegant leaves and rich red to bronze coloration. New growth often emerges in shades of reddish-brown, copper, or deep ruby before gradually developing greener tones as the leaves mature. Its impressive size and upright growth make it an excellent centerpiece or background plant for medium to large aquariums.
Like most Echinodorus, Red Rubin is a heavy root feeder and performs best in a nutrient-rich substrate or with regular use of root tabs. It is relatively undemanding and does not require CO₂ injection, although stronger lighting, good nutrition, and supplemental CO₂ can encourage faster growth and more intense coloration.
Care Level: Easy to Moderate
Lighting: Medium to High
CO₂: Not required, but beneficial
Growth Rate: Moderate
Placement: Midground / Background
Height: Approximately 30–50+ cm (12–20+ in)
Propagation: Adventitious plantlets / flower stalks

Note: Echinodorus plants are commonly grown emersed at nurseries. After being placed underwater, some existing leaves may melt back while the plant transitions to new submerged growth. This is normal and does not indicate that the plant is dying.
