Cardinal Tetra (Paracheirodon axelrodi)
The Cardinal Tetra is a striking fish with an electric blue stripe and vivid red colour running along much of its body. A group creates a bright, colourful display as the fish move together through a planted aquarium.
Cardinal Tetras do best in a mature aquarium with stable, clean water, plant cover, and some open swimming space. Keep at least 8–10 together so they feel secure and show their natural schooling behaviour. They are peaceful companions for other gentle fish that enjoy similar conditions.
Offer a varied diet of appropriately sized flakes or micro pellets, supplemented with small frozen or live foods such as daphnia and bloodworms.
