Mosquito Chili Rasbora (Boraras brigittae)
Bring a flash of colour to your planted aquarium with the Mosquito Chili Rasbora. This tiny, peaceful fish develops a vivid red body with dark markings, making a group especially striking against green plants and a darker background.
Native to Borneo’s slow-moving blackwater habitats, Chili Rasboras do best in a mature aquarium with gentle flow, plenty of plant cover, and stable, soft water. Keep them in a group of at least 8–10 so they feel secure and show their natural behaviour. Their small size makes them best suited to a species aquarium or a community with other tiny, peaceful fish. They can also live alongside freshwater shrimp, though newly hatched shrimplets may be eaten.
Offer appropriately sized foods such as finely crushed flakes or micro pellets, supplemented with small frozen or live foods.
